Chronic respiratory diseases
La Marató de TV3 in 2003 dealt with chronic respiratory diseases. Knowing the causes of these diseases, diagnosing them early, researching ways to prevent them and improvement the treatment and quality of life of the people who are affected were the factors that led the Board of the Foundation to decide on this health field.
Choking, lack of air and fatigue are the most common symptoms of people who suffer from a chronic respiratory disease, a group of diseases that can be highly incapacitating if they are not diagnosed in time and receive suitable treatment.
In this group of diseases, the most frequent are asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema.
In this edition of the programme, the activities that members of the public organise every year on their own initiative took on great importance and became one of the essential elements for understanding the success of La Marató de TV3.
