The Last Days of a President, Sentenced to Death.
1940: Lluís Companys, President of the Catalan Government, was imprisoned and awaiting sentencing, accused by the authorities under the Franco dictatorship, of crimes against the State. The film focuses on the thirteen last days of Companys' life, before he faced a firing squad; on his lawyer's desperate attempts to save his life; and on the military regime's fears that he would become a martyr and symbol for European democracies.
