During the boom of international adoptionfrom the late 90s to the 2000sover 13,000 children arrived in Catalonia. Now adults are navigating the lasting impact of adoption. Some search for their birth families; others face physical and emotional scars, or daily encounters with racial prejudice. Among them are over 3,000 adoptees from Russia and Ukraine with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and their families worry about their future care.
