Who was the indoctrinator of the terrorists behind the Barcelona attacks?
Six months away from the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils in August 2017 which caused 15 deaths and 100 other casualties, an investigation conducted by TV3 news services aims to reconstruct the life of imam Es-Satty who indoctrinated the young terrorists and, allegedly, the mastermind behind the entire operation.
Who was Abdelbaki Es-Satty? At what stage did he give up being a criminal in order to become what he considered to be an engaged Muslim? What strategy did he plan so as to go completely unnoticed and become the indoctrinator of the terrorists behind the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils?.
The documentary shows the conversations conducted in jail with Es-Satty's mates during the period he was imprisoned who explain the way in which he approached young people and the contacts he had with the national police. Informers and friends are interviewed but the testimony of one relative is particularly relevant regarding the changes they went through for months before the attacks as well as the impact had on a day to day basis.
"Es-Satty, portrait of an impostor" deals with some clues of an investigation which is still sub judice. Were there other youth present at the imam's meetings?
