A young and ambitious business man caught between tradition and the modern world
In the mid-19th century, a young Catalan man is sent to Galicia to manage a small salting company owned by one of the many Catalan fishermen who had moved to Galicia after the population of sardines had declined in the Mediterranean.
Disappointment in love and the political unrest of the times lead him to settle there permanently and set up his own salting company.
His eldest son will have to struggle as hard as his father, but this time the goal will be to transform a traditional family salting business into what will become 20th-century Galicia's industrial force: the fish canning industry.
A high-quality production attractive for its historical and dramatic story, its scenery, period setting and well-developed, powerful characters.
Filmed in O Grove, Carnota, Carral, Narón, Betanzos, Pontedeume, Abegondo, Irixoa, Oleiros and Arteixo (Galicia).
